Palmetto Osteria Says Mangiamo!

True to his word, island businessman Dennis Byrd on Friday debuted his latest culinary venture — Palmetto Osteria, 12 Evia Main in West End neighborhood Evia.

The dinner-only Palmetto Osteria will serve coastal Italian cuisine, good wine and specialty cocktails.

It marks the first high-end concept for Byrd, who is known for popular fast-casual restaurants The Spot, which operate in Galveston, League City and Houston.

He also this year opened fast-casual Basin Bistro, across the street from Palmetto Osteria in Evia.

Byrd, who doesn’t shy away from a challenge, is enjoying his debut in fine-dining, he said.

“I’m always telling my team we must execute at an incredibly high level,” he said. “The food is elevated, the bar program is elevated, and we have an absolutely spectacular view of the lake. We have to get all these things right.”
